New: Glossary on Sustainability in the Arts

The ZHdK platform "Growing Sustainability in the Arts" offers a glossary featuring key terms related to sustainability in the arts and design.

The glossary serves as a starting point for exploring and discussing these terms in depth, as language and concepts are constantly evolving. The selection is not exhaustive and will be continuously updated – visit and get inspired!

Hörpunkt #6: Can we fly in a sofa from Lebanon?

In this episode, Nadja Fässler-Keller, Sustainability Officer of Services at ZHdK, Mike Honegger, Head of AV Services at ZHdK, and Sara Zeller, Curator at the Museum für Gestaltung, discuss the challenges and opportunities of operational sustainability in the context of AV equipment.

We explore how devices like tablets and screens impact the institution's emissions and analyse how collaboration between ZHdK services and the museum can help optimise sustainability, and what steps are necessary to find an environmentally conscious balance. Tune in now

Training: Sustainability in Education

How can sustainability be integrated into teaching? What are the goals and didactic principles of education for sustainable development? How can different expressions and demands of sustainability be linked with ethical and justice-based concepts?

These and other questions will be addressed in two half-day training courses in October. ZHdK members and external interested parties are cordially invited to register online or via info.resource@zhdk.ch!

Clothing Swap: "ready to share" and "ready to wear"

  8–9 October 2024, Room 4.K13, Toni-Areal, Zurich
Sometimes it doesn’t take much to make something new from something old. Sometimes it’s enough for products to get a second chance with someone else. Clothing items are particularly popular for this.

This process slows down fast fashion, and this year, a free clothes swap will take place at Toni-Areal over two days. You can bring or take home well-preserved clothes and accessories.

Events: "Perspectives of Change" – A Series on Sustainability

  6th November 2024, Toni-Areal, Zurich
How can artistic and design approaches contribute to positively conveying, influencing, and actively promoting the theme of sustainability?

The series kicks off with "Stories of Possibilities," featuring insights from ZHdK alumni Tobias Luchsinger, lecturer Reto Schaerli, and filmmaker Sonja Schenkel. It will explore how storytelling in film can change our thinking and actions, making sustainability part of the solution, not the problem.
